Working in a Tanzanian hospital
Tulane junior Bob Lathrop spent a summer in Tanzania as a volunteer biomedical engineer, repairing medical equipment in a busy hospital.

"Bob, when he does enter the workplace, he is going to be able to say 'I have not only had classes in the design of medical instruments, I've gone out and fixed medical instruments,' and that's a very valuable addition to his resume." – Cedric Walker, professor of biomedical engineering
